Project
Dairy Road, Building 7
Griffith, Canberra
Year
2022
Project Description
Engaged by Molonglo group to install a ‘potentially temporary’ garden which shifted the vibe on the site away from ‘Business Park’ towards ‘Rambling Native Garden’
12,000 native plants were installed: a combination of short lived, fast growing wattles to create atmosphere and effect, paired with many plants (including wildflowers, native shrubs and lilies) that were selected for their ability to be transplanted and reused in other areas of the site if the ‘temporary’ part of the brief become a reality.
Structures
The steel structure over the boardwalk referenced the idea of scaffolding; noting the ‘under construction’ nature of the rest of the site.
I designed an outdoor meeting room for tenants of building 7, and the broader public, to be able to find a sheltered and enclosed spot to sit in the garden. Complete with a solar powered pump in the corten steel pond.
